Paul McCartney, Madonna and U2 are some of the artists that will participate on the second version of the benefic legendary concert "Live Aid", as announced on Tuesday.
The event will be on July 2 with simultaneous presentations on London, Paris, Berlin, Philadelphia and Rome.
The purpose of the original event, celebrated on 1985, was to collect money to releive the famine in Africa. This time, the intention is to ask for more help to releive the poorness on countries on development, and the event will take place on the same date that a reunion of the Grupo de los Ocho will start. The new edition of concerts will be oficially called "Live 8".
The stages of the event include the Coliseum in Rome, Hyde Park in London and the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
On the announced artists are Coldplay, Madonna, Paul McCartney, R.E.M. and U2 on London; Will Smith, Bon Jovi, Dave Mathews Band, Stevie Wonder and P. Diddy on Philadelphia; Crosby, Stills and Nash, Lauren Hill and Brian Wilson in Berlin; Jamiroquai, Youssou N'Dour, Yannick Noah and Placebo in Paris; and Duran Duran in Rome.

Live 8, Saturday 2nd July
As you are all aware by now Placebo have been announced to play Live 8 in Paris. We have now officially confirmed this, and can give you a few more details.
They will perform at 9.49pm, Central European time, subject to change, on Saturday night, 2nd July at the Palais de Versailles, Paris. Placebo will perform two songs. The performance is scheduled to go out live on M6 television and NRJ radio in France on Saturday night. You will also be able to watch live online on demand at www.aol.fr. Other TV highlights will hopefully be shown in other countries for people who can't be there.

The band believe strongly in what Live 8 stands for and have a huge amount of respect for Sir Bob Gldof efforts to pull these Live 8 shows together, but most importantly, what he has done already to make people aware of the massive World Debt problem and force Governments into action, even before a note has been struck at any of the shows.
